Le secret est révélé. La bataille de New York a montré au monde que les dieux peuvent tomber du ciel, des hommes en costumes de fer peuvent s'envoler vers les étoiles, un super soldat peut ressurgir du passé et une créature verte peut briser ce qui doit l'être. Le monde est plein de héros. Mais tous ne sont pas comme ceux représentés par les figurines qu'un jeune garçon regarde avec envie à travers la vitrine d'un magasin de Los Angeles. Son père, Mike Peterson, n'aimerait rien de plus que de lui acheter la figurine de son héros favori pour son anniversaire. Mais les temps sont durs. Le jeune garçon comprend, bien que cela ne rende pas pour autant la situation plus facile pour Mike. En fait, elle rend encore plus mal.

BOUM ! Une explosion à l'étage supérieur d'un immeuble fait trembler la ville. Mike demande à un ami de surveiller son fils alors qu'il s'engouffre dans une ruelle. Quand il est sûr que personne ne l'observe, il fracasse de ses mains des morceaux de l'immeuble afin de grimper jusqu'à l'étage. Mike vient à la rescousse d'une femme blessée et saute du haut du bâtiment en retombant sur ses pieds et sauve la vie de la femme. Personne ne l'a vu entrer dans le bâtiment, mais une spectatrice étonnée a vu son attention attiré vers lui. Son nom est Skye et elle film la totalité du sauvetage sur son téléphone. Mike que la jeune femme l'a vu et qu'elle connait son secret.

France. L'agent Grant Ward est à Paris pour une mission impliquant un groupe connu sous le nom Rising Tide. Il est attaqué par deux hommes lors de la récupération d'un paquet. Il les neutralise avec des ustensiles de cuisine, en plus de la très bonne maîtrise de ses mains. Il est alors récupéré par un hélicoptère sur le toit de l'immeuble.

Une fois de retour sur le sol américain, Ward est interrogé par l'agent Maria Hill sur ce qu'il sait du SHIELD (Stratégie, Habilité, Intervention, Exécution et Logistique Défensive) : ils sont un bouclier entre ce monde et d'autres mondes, et protègent les gens de vérités qu'ils ne sont pas prêts à entendre. Il est habilité niveau 6, donc il sait que l'agent Phil Coulson a été tué avant la bataille de New York. Ward est abasourdi lorsque l'agent décédé se présente dans la même pièce que lui pour lui souhaiter la bienvenue au niveau 7.

Coulson explique que, après avoir été poignardé par Loki, le directeur Fury l'a expédié à Tahiti pour se reposer. Il s'agit selon lui d'un petit coin de paradis. Bien qu'il ne sache pas la vérité à ce sujet... Coulson est de retour dans la partie parce qu'il y'a toujours des "méta-humains" non encadrés. The Rising Tide fournit des preuves de cela via une vidéo montrant Mike passer à travers le bâtiment en feu. Ward a été sélectionné pour faire partie d'une unité de commandement mobile parce que Coulson sait que les choses sont sur le point de devenir très bizarre pour cet homme mystérieux. Il va avoir besoin d'aide, aide que le SHIELD pourra lui apporter.

Skye traque Mike pour lui dire que SHIELD viendra pour lui de la même façon qu'ils ont tout fait pour effacer les traces de l'attaque de New-York, mais l'homme refuse son aide. Au moment où il part, elle réussi à lui piquer sa carte d'identité, ce qui lui permet de savoir qui il est vraiment.

Comme pour le reste de l'équipe de Coulson, il convainc l'agent Melinda May de conduire le "bus". Il s'agit d'un grand poste aéroporté de commandement mobile à la pointe de la technologie. Les agents Leo Fitz et Jemma Simmons surnommés les Fitz-Simmons, deux grands cerveaux scientifiques chamailleurs qui n'ont jamais été sur le terrain, font aussi partis de l'équipe. Et puis il y'a Lola, la voiture de collection super équipée de l'agent Coulson.

Skye est très douée avec les ordinateurs et fait partie de l'organisation Rising Tide. C'est la raison pour laquelle elle a été capable de cacher son identité jusqu'au moment où Coulson et Ward l'enlèvent de son van. Ils l'interrogent sur l'identité du super-héros de la vidéo. Coulson veut aussi savoir quelque chose sur ce que Skye appelle "Centipède." Coulson injecte alors à Ward un sérum de vérité (le KNBT-16) qui oblige l'agent d'admettre qu'il trouve Skye belle. Coulson permet à la jeune femme de demander à Ward tout ce qu'elle veut afin de lui prouver qu'elle peut leur faire confiance.

Pendant ce temps, May et Fitz-Simmons enquêtent sur l'explosion de l'immeuble. Pour ne pas se salir les mains comme le suggère May, Fitz fait appelle à de petits drones qui peuvent analyser toute la zone. Grâce à eux, ils retrouvent une caméra qui leur permet de savoir ce qu'il s'est passé avant l'explosion.

Mike tente d'obtenir de retrouver son ancien travail à l'usine, mais son ancien patron refuse. Cela fait perdre à Mike son sang-froid : il provoque des dégâts majeurs et de graves blessures à son ancien contremaître. Skye sait que ce genre de chose ne correspond pas à l'homme qu'elle a rencontré.

Coulson réussit enfin à savoir qui est cet homme : Mike Peterson, un homme qui a perdu son boulot et sa femme suite à une blessure, et qui a répondu positif à une annonce pour lui permettre de devenir plus fort grâce à une nouvelle technologie.

Mike rend visite à la femme qu'il a sauvé à l'hôpital. Elle est en fait un médecin de son passé et responsable du programme donc Mike était un sujet. Selon elle, il n'aurait pas dû la sauver car en faisant ça, il l'a exposé et ce n'est pas le souhait des personnes lui ayant fourni cette technologie : Mike doit disparaître. Elle est persuadé qu'il va perdre la tête comme le sujet précédent, responsable de l'explosion.

Avec l'aide de Skye, Fitz et Simmons récupèrent les séquences vidéo mettant en scène le "premier sujet". Il avait un filtre par voie intraveineuse sur son bras qui ressemble à un centipède. Il est utilisé pour filtrer un sérum dans le sang qui permet au destinataire d'avoir une force beaucoup plus importante semblable à un sérum utilisé dans les années 40 pour créer de supers soldats mais mélangé à d'autres technologies extra-terrestres. Il s'agit d'Extremis, quelque chose de nouveau mais surtout de très instable. Ses effets sur Mike le font agir de façon irrationnelle en kidnappant Skye afin qu'elle puisse les aider, son fils et lui. Coulson et son équipe réalisent alors que le super-héros qu'ils cherchent pourrait littéralement exploser à tout moment.

Fitz et Simmons pensent qu'il n'y'a que deux options pour Mike : soit il doit être isolé des autres personnes ou alors recevoir une balle en pleine tête. Ce qui ne sont pas des solutions pour Coulson qui veut trouver une option où le fils de Mike ne perdra pas son père. En utilisant les coordonnées secrètement envoyés par Skye, l'équipe suit le sujet à la gare Union pendant que Fitz-Simmons travaille avec frénésie afin de trouver une solution numéro trois. Mike fait des ravages à l'extérieur et l'intérieur du bâtiment pendant que Ward tente, en vain, de le capturer. BANG ! Un flic tire sur Mike. Mais le tireur, accompagnée par la jeune femme que Mike a sauvé, n'est pas un véritable agent de police. Coulson réalise que quelqu'un d'autre est aussi sur le coup.

BANG ! Le faux flic force Mike à plonger jusqu'à l'étage inférieur et ce dernier s'écrase sur le sol. May décroche le mauvais flic avec une certaine précision la main-à-main mouvements de combat. Quant à Mike, le poison dans son système prend le relais. Il perd le contrôle. Coulson se retrouve face à lui et pose son arme. Il écoute le discours passionné de Mike sur comment il pouvait être un héros. Alors que Coulson approuve, quelque chose frappe Mike et le met KO. Il s'agit de la solution numéro trois trouvée par Fitz-Simmons.

La famille de Mike est heureuse d'entendre qu'il va rentrer à la maison un jour. Coulson sait que celui qui a parrainé le projet de Centipède est toujours là, comme beaucoup d'autres menaces inconnues. Il demande Skye si elle est prête à le rejoindre dans sa lutte. Au même moment, il reçoit un appel au sujet d'un 0-8-4. Coulson démarre Lola. Il est assez loin du reste de l'équipe, mais s'attend à les rejoindre dans environ 10 minutes, temps qu'il donne à Skye pour se décider bien qu'elle ne croit pas qu'ils puissent arriver à l'aérodrome en si peu de temps. Jusqu'à ce qu'elle se rende compte que Lola peut voler. Le monde est plein de merveilles. Il y'a des héros et des monstres. Et il y a aussi les agents du SHIELD.

Mike Peterson buys something to a man. His son, Ace, watch superhero figurines in a window.

MIKE: Thanks, Bernie.
BERNIE: You bet.
MIKE: Ace, come and get it. What do you say we go out to your Aunt Mindy's this weekend? You and Kisha can swim in the pond.
ACE: Sure. 
MIKE: You know, you got a birthday coming up in a couple of months. Who's your favorite ?
ACE: I'm okay.
MIKE: Hey. Things are tight right now, but I'm gonna find something. Not back at the factory, but I got prospects. You and me... what are we ?
ACE: We're a team.
MIKE: That's right. So, who do you...

The building behind them explodes

MIKE: Are you okay? All right, ace, look at me. I need you to stay here with Bernie, okay? People might be hurt, and I'm gonna see if they need my help. Stay with Bernie. (to Bernie) Watch my boy !

Mike go to the building. It arrives in an alleyand looks up the building.

WOMAN (voice only): Help me ! Help me !

Mike looks around. It hits the wall with his fist without injury and begins to climb. It enters through the window in the apartment on fire.

WOMAN (voice only): Help me !

Outside, several person film the building. Among them, a young woman.Mike jumps out the window with the woman in his arms. He landed on his feet.The young woman who films, approximates Mike who filing the victim to the ground. He looks to the young woman and flees.

VOICE OFF: We can't explain everything we see. But our eyes are open. So what now? There are no more shadows for you to hide in. Something impossible just happened. What are you going to do about it ?

PARIS, FRANCE

Three SHIELD's car arrive. An agent out of a car and talking on the radio.

AGENT: Agent Ward, there's been a development. It's the Rising Tide. They've pinned down the location of the package. We need to abort.

We see a man on a bike.

WARD: I'm five minutes away from retrieving it.
AGENT: So is everyone else. They posted the coordinates online.
WARD: If the job was easy...
AGENT: Yeah, it wouldn't be any fun. Watch your six.

Ward removes his helmet and jacket. He enters a restaurant, on server dress.

AGENT: Red tie, by the window.
WARD (to red tie man): Puis-je prendre votre verre Monsieur ?
RED TIE MAN : Allez-y

Ward takes the glass and went upstairs, while he scan fingerprints of man. He enters an apartment, find a safe hiding behind a table and uses fingerprints to open it. A secret room appears. He takes a bag and turned around when a woman appears.

WARD: Your fireplace is broken.

Two guards arrive. Ward jumps on them and they fight.

AGENT: Ward, just a heads-up. We've got possible hostiles in your vicinity.
WARD: Really ?

Ward neutralizes the two guards and flees to the roof of the building. A helicopter arrives and take him.

AGENT HILL’S FIELD OFFICE

HILL: What does "S.H.I.E.L.D." stand for, Agent Ward ?
WARD: Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
HILL: And what does that mean to you ?
WARD:It means someone really wanted our initials to spell out "SHIELD." It means we're the line... between the world and the much weirder world. We protect people from news they aren't ready to hear. And when we can't do that, we keep them safe.Something turns up... like this Chitauri neural link... we get to it before someone bad does.
HILL:Any idea who Vanchat was planning to sell it to ?
WARD: I'm more interested in how this Rising Tide group found out about it. I thought they were just hackers. What changed ?
HILL: Everything's changing. A little while ago, most people went to bed thinking that the craziest thing in the world was a billionaire in a flying metal suit. Then aliens invaded New York and were beaten back by, among others, a giant green monster, a costumed hero from the '40s, and a god.
WARD:I don't think Thor's technically a god.
HILL: Well, you haven't been near his arms. The battle of New York was the end of the world. This... now... is the new world. People are different. They have access to tech, to formulas, secrets they're not ready for.
WARD:Why was I pulled out of Paris ?
HILL: That, you'll have to ask Agent Coulson.
WARD: Uh, yeah. I'm clearance level six. I know that... Agent Coulson was killed in action before the battle of New York. Got the full report.

Coulson enters the room

COULSON:  Welcome to level seven. Sorry... that corner was really dark, and I couldn't help myself. I think there's a bulb out.

STREET

Mike on. The young woman who filmed, watch him and following.

SHIELD

WARD: Director Fury faked your death... to motivate the Avengers.
HILL: Well, the death of a common ally is a particularly effective team builder.
COMPUTER VOICE: Say "cheese."
COULSON: Plus, it wasn't that much of a stretch. I stopped breathing for about 40 seconds.
HILL: Eight. It gets longer every time you tell it.
COULSON: Yeah, well, you get shanked by the Asgardian Mussolini, you can tell it your way. I was looking at the big white light, and it felt like a lot longer than eight seconds.
WARD: Do they know ? The Avengers... that Fury played them ?
HILL: They're not level seven.
COULSON: I got out of the I.C.U., Fury stuck me in a grass shack in Tahiti. Rough gig. Mai tais, Travis McGee novels, and a physical therapist Whose command of english was... irrelevant.
WARD: But something put you back in the game. What is that ?
COULSON: That's a superhero, Agent Ward.
HILL: An unregistered gifted. Identity... unknown.
VOICE: The secret's out. For decades, your organization...
COULSON: Another little present from The Rising Tide.
WARD: How are they getting this stuff before us ?
COULSON: Same way they cracked our RSA implementation. They're good. So I need better.
HILL: Agent Coulson has requisitioned a mobile command unit, to which you are assigned.
COULSON: Rising Tide is trying to draw us out. I think it's time they succeeded.
WARD: You want me to cross them off ?
COULSON: Wow. No. I want to use them to get to him. This man's world is about to get very weird. He's gonna need some help.
WARD: I'm sorry. I was trained from day one as a specialist. I go in alone. I get it done. Defusing a nuclear bomb... I'm your guy. A welcoming committee ? not my speed.
COULSON: I know it's not what you want. Agent Hill did a very detailed assessment of your last three missions. Combat... top grades. Espionage... she gave you the highest marks since Romanoff. Under "people skills," she drew a... I think it's a little poop with knives sticking out of it. What? It... That's bad, right? And given your family history, I'm surprised it's not worse. But... DOCTOR:Team's approved. Physicals are all fine. Fitz-Simmons is not cleared for combat. I'm told that won't be an issue. Agent Ward here... he's almost too fit.
WARD: That's an issue. That should be an issue. Maybe I can't join the team, because my...
HILL: God, are you dismissed
Ward out
HLL: It was a porcupine. It was not a poop. It just means that he...

COULSON: No, I'm pretty sure.
HILL:And it's not just Ward. Your whole roster is sketchy.
COULSON: Well, they're cleared.
DOCTOR: I would have been very happy not to clear you, Phil. I'd love for you to rest up some more.
COULSON:I've had plenty of that. Thanks.
HILL:You sure ?
COULSON: You should go sometime.
HILL: Where ?
COULSON: Tahiti. It's a magical place.
HILL:Three days in, I'd be begging for an assignment.
COULSON: Exactly.

Coulson out

DOCTOR: Tahiti. He really doesn't know, does he ?
HILL:He can never know.

RESTAURANT

Mike Peterson sat at a table and watch the news on TV. We see the woman he saved.

WOMAN: I-is there any way I can thank him ? Are you sure nobody saw him ?
MALE REPORTER: So, the identity of the hooded hero still remains unknown.
FEMALE REPORTER: Researchers at UCLA Medical Center released a study today which shows that supplemental...

Skye, the young woman who follows him, just sit in front of him.

SKYE: Just act natural.
MIKE:What ?
SKYE: Just pretend that we're talking.
MIKE: We are.
SKYE: Good. 'Cause you never know who's listening.
MIKE: I don't even know who's talking.
SKYE: I'm Skye. And you're the hooded hero. Please tell me that you're not staying with that name.
MIKE: Wait. What? I'm not... I'm a factory worker.
SKYE:Sure, by day. I saw you. You're a hero. Like, a for-real superhero, which is... I'm not, like, a groupie, stalker type, but... (She laughs) Oh, my god! That is so cool !Okay, okay, chill. Just don't... don't draw attention. [ Sighs ] You're in danger.
MIKE: You got the wrong guy, lady.
SKYE: No, you've got the wrong approach. The cute girl from the hospital is dying to thank you... and possibly "thank" you... And you're hiding. The clip of you rescuing her has had the most hits since that puppy with vertigo, And you can't even find a job.
MIKE: What do you mean about danger ?
SKYE: S.H.I.E.L.D.
MIKE: Shield, what ? I should carry a shield ?
SKYE: S.H.I.E.L.D. Government. Scary men in dark suits who come after guys like you. They knew about the battle of New York before it even happened and then cleaned it up before anyone could ask any real questions... overnight. How long do you think it'll take for them to clean you up ?
MIKE:And you want to know why I'm hiding.
SKYE: What if you didn't hide ? What if you got in front of this and let people know that you're a hero ?
MIKE: I'm just a guy.
SKYE:Well, a guy like that gets work, gets perks. I can help. I'm great with computers... like, weirdly great. I mean, I could help you create a whole new identity or... (gasps) a mask.
MIKE:O-kay

Mike takes his paper and rises. Skye follow him.

SKYE: Uh, ok... well, you could just... also, we could just stick with the...hood. Listen, you cannot walk away from this. With great power comes... a ton of weird crap that you are not prepared to deal with. Now, my office is..
MIKE:You have an office ?
SKYE:Yes, I have an office. It's a mobile... office. It's a... van. I live in a van... by choice. But it's always in the alley around the corner... free wi-fi... and you can come by anytime.
MIKE: Thank you.

Mike goes.

SKYE: They're coming for you.

She looks at the ID card, who she just steal.

SKYE: MIKE.

SHIELD

A woman is sitting at her desk about to collate documents.

COULSON:  Agent May.
MAY: No.
COULSON: So you've been briefed.
MAY:I'm not going back in the field.
COUSLON:Yeah. You've got such a nice setup here. You ever thought about adding a moat ? I just need you to drive the bus, liaise ground transpo, some on-site supervision. This isn't a combat op.
MAY: Then you don't need me.
COULSON:I do. 'Cause we'll be running ourselves. Picking the ops... Making the calls. No red tape. This is where they actually make the red tape, isn't it ? I always wondered. Melinda.
MAY:You're really just asking me to drive the bus ?
COULSON:  I'm not asking. But it's a really nice bus.

SHIELD HANGAR

Ward arrives at the "bus" is a huge black plane. He goes to the bridge.

FITZ: whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Watch it! That's the night-night gun.
SIMMONS:well, it's on my stuff, and it doesn't work, and there's no way we're calling it the night-night gun.
FITZ:The bullets work. Nonlethal, heavy stopping power, Break up under the subcutaneous tissue...
SIMMONS:I'm not Hermione. I can't create instant paralysis with that. You should have run the specs by me before building the molds. The bullets are hollow. It's a marvel I can keep them from breaking apart in the chamber. Or used a higher-caliber round. Or read a book.
FITZ:Have you ever heard of physics or... What's the other one?... inertia? It's not particularly difficult.

Ward drops his bag, Fitz and Simmons stop.

WARD: Fitz-Simmons ?
SIMMONS (Showing Fitz): Fitz.
FITZ (Showing Simmons): Simmons. I'm engineering. She's biochem. Agent Ward ?
WARD: Coulson said I'd need my comm receiver encoded. Don't know if you've worked with that model before. It's... (Fitz breaks it)  Brand-new.
SIMMONS: He'll repurpose the I.D.I.S. chip.
FITZ:Don't need the external receiver for the inner-ear comms anymore.
WARD:So, uh, how does it...
Simmons puts a swab in the mouth.
SIMMONS: Embedded sensorineural silicone matched to your DNA. It's very posh. So, are you excited to be coming on our journey into mystery ?
WARD: It's like Christmas.
A red car arrives on the plane.
FITZ: One of Coulson's old S.H.I.E.L.D. collectibles. Flamethrowers, world's first GPS. He's mad for this crap.
COULSON: Don't touch Lola.
FITZ: And he calls it a girl's name.
Coulson and Ward move the plane, speaking.
COULSON: Lola's not just a collectible, you know. People tend to confuse the words "new" and "improved." This mobile command, they were in heavy rotation back in the '90s, but then we got a heli-carrier. Hey. Did you hear the one about the guy who's afraid of flying ?
WARD: I've done a night jump into a drop zone under heavy fire, sir. I can handle it.
That was a... joke. The first part of a... I'm not gonna tell it now.
MAY: If you plan to unpack, make it quick. Wheels are up in five. We may have a hit on one of The Rising Tide's routing points.
COULSON: Good. We need to do some catching up.

WARD: Is that... who I think it is ?
COULSON: She's just the pilot.
WARD: Melinda May is "just the pilot." Come on, sir. What game are you really playing ?
COULSON:Better stow your gear.

The plane starts to take off. We hear Skye voice off and then the way in his van.

SKYE: How will you come at us? From the air? From the ground? How will you silence us this time? How can you? The truth is in the wind. It's everywhere. You cannot stop The Rising Tide. You will not find us. You will never see our faces. But rest assured... We will rise against those who shield us from the truth. And nothing... nothing can stop us in the...

The door of the van opens. Ward and Coulson appear.

SKYE: Hey. What up ?

Ward puts a bag over his head.

SHIELD’S BUS

Ward and Coulson are back with Skye. They take her to an interrogation room and then takes away the bag.

SKYE: You guys are making a big mistake.
WARD: You don't look that big.
COULSON: Sorry for the lack of finesse. Agent Ward here has had a little history with your group... The Rising Tide.
SKYE: I don't know... what you're...
WARD: Okay, there are two ways we can do this.
SKYE: Oh. Is one of them the easy way ?
WARD: No.
SKYE: Oh.
WARD: What's your name ?
SKYE: Skye.
WARD: What's your real name ? 
COULSON: That can wait. It's another name we need... a certain hero.
SKYE: What makes you think I know that ?
COULSON: Well, you made a little mistake. The phone you filmed the hooded hero with had the same cryptographic signature as a few of The Rising Tide posts.
SKYE: Wow. Yeah. Was that a mistake? Or am I now sitting in the center of your secret headquarters? What is this? A plane? I got inside. And by now, you've discovered you can't beat the encryption on my equipment, so you got nothing.
COULSON: We have a fairly strong coincidence... you being on the scene right before it went up in flames. Want to tell me what my team is gonna find out ?

May we see, Fitz Simmons and arrive on the accident scene.

COULSON: How did you know the hooded man was in the building ?
WARD: Did you blow it up to draw him out ?
SKYE: Did you ?
COULSON: That's not our style.
SKYE: I was just kidnapped by your "style." S.H.I.E.L.D. covered up New Mexico, Project Pegasus. Of course you'd be covering up Centipede.

Coulson and Ward stare. Ward is intrigued.

SKYE: Holy no way. (Chuckles) You don't know what that is. Billions of dollars of equipment at your disposal, and I beat you with a laptop that I won in a bet ?
COULSON:You need to think about your friend. We're not the only ones interested in people with powers. We'd like to contain him, yeah. The next guy will want to exploit him, and the guy after that will want to dissect him.
WARD: What is Centipede ?

MIKE’S HOUSE

Mike is on the phone. His son plays nearby.

MIKE: Yeah, I get it, but... Listen, doctor, people saw me. They saw what I can do. If I went public, that might be good. I mean, your product works. It works amazingly, and... yeah, yeah, I-I-I know what I signed, but if we got out in front of this, maybe... Then what ? You want me to go crawling back to the factory ? I couldn't even get workmen's comp from those crooks. I don't think... Yeah, ye... Doctor, I just thought... Okay.

He hangs up and throws his phone.

ASH’S APARTMENT

SIMMONS: This was a lab. Was this leased as a lab ?
MAY: Mnh-mnh. Self-empowerment center. With a top-of-the-line motion-sensor security system.
SIMMONS: Ah. So a secret lab.

Youth are on Mike. Skye absconds.

Mike throws a man in the air.

Outside, in a police car, the woman from the hospital made a sign to an armed man who descends and goes into the station. Coulson take Ace.

It gets rid of Ward and looks around. He sees Skye and jumps in his direction. Man dressed as a policeman points his gun at Mike and pulls. Mike broke a door and share with Skye.

COULSON: We're at the north entrance, May.
WARD:You told them to hold fire.
COULSON: I don't think that's us. We may have a third party here. He's gonna head down to the tracks. You stay high. I'll go low. Only take the shot if you have to, Ward. Ward !
WARD: If I have to.

 

SKYE: You got to stop ! These people can help you.
MIKE: The men in suits ? They're your buddies now ? Where did they take my son ?

He throws Skye ground. Man shoots again and touches Mike's shoulder. Mike falls from the balcony. May arrives and put the man K.O. Below, Mike stands up. Coulson arrives in front of him. Coulson raises his weapon to the ground.

MIKE: Think that means anything ? I know you got men everywhere waiting to put me down. I know how this plays out
COULSON:  I don't. I know you got poison in your system. I know it's burning you up. Mike, the last guy who wore that exploded.
MIKE: I'm not like that other guy. I'm... It matters who I am... inside, if I'm a good person, if I'm strong.
WARD (with gun): I have a clear shot.Do you copy ?
COULSON:I know you're strong. Your boy knows it. He needs you to let us help.
MIKE: You took him ! You took my wife, my job, my house. You think this is killing me?! All over, there's people being pushed down, being robbed. One of them tries to stand up, you got to make an example out of him.
COULSON: You bring this building down on us, will that help them ?
MIKE:That's a lie ! All you do is lie ! (he look Skye) You said if we worked hard... if we did right... we'd have a place. You said it was enough to be a man. But there's better than man. There's gods. And the rest of us... What are we? They're giants. We're what they step on.
COULSON: I know. I've seen giants... up close. And that privilege cost me... nearly everything. But the good ones... the real deal... they're not heroes because of what they have that we don't. It's what they do with it. You're right, Mike. It matters who you are. 
MIKE:I could, you know ? Be a hero.
COULSON: I'm counting on it.

Ward shoot’s Mike. Simmons came running then you see Ward with Fitz and the night-night gun.Simmons looks at the team smiled. Everyone is relieved

COULSON (on phone): Subject is in stable condition. All clear at Union Station.

Hill has smiled goes.

MIKE'S SISTER’S HOUSE

Coulson and Skye removal Ace with his aunt.

The phone rings. Coulson wins.

COULSON:  Is that confirmed ?
WARD: They want us to go in and confirm it.

COULSON: You've got exactly 10 minutes to decide if you really want to know.
SKYE: There's no way we can make it to the airfield in...

Coulson presses a button and the car's wheels turn and it rises into the air.

SKYE: …10 minutes.
COULSON: The tide is rising.
